I grew up in the era of everyone watching Seinfeld and talking about it the next day. Not sure if streaming is really ever going to capture that essence again. There existed a binding thread as we all witnessed the same thing at the same time. The streaming platforms now offer a wealth of superior content, available for everyone… Yet, there was a certain charm in returning home, sinking into the couch, and indulging in the same entertainment as your friends.

Cable? Do you mean broadcast? Seinfeld was on NBC. Cable TV is not going anywhere and it has in fact been doing really well, just look at HBO with Succession. House of the Drragon, The Last of Us etc. Although now all the cable networks have their own streaming services too.

No, I don’t miss broadcast TV at all. Not only because there’s so many great shows now, and generally more interesting TV than most in the 1990s (there were some really great shows in th 1990s, but FEWER great shows than in the 2010s), but also because I’m not from the USA and for us, getting our shows from the Internet cough cough has been the default and in the past often only way to get to watch them.
